About
Grete Sampson (pronounced “Greta”) is a former zookeeper who is actively involved in local animal training and care. In addition to running Happy at Home, she is a volunteer with Scott-Fox Training. She is also a member of Pet Sitters International, has a business license, is fully insured through Pet Sitters Associates, and is certified in Pet First Aid and CPR.
Grete’s love of animals first became a career in high school and early college, when she worked at a veterinary clinic and received hands-on experience in small animal care. Grete was later a zookeeping intern at a nationally-accredited zoo in Fort Worth, Texas, where she worked with giraffes, rhinos, koalas, kangaroos, African hoofstock, lions, and monkeys - to name a few! After college, Grete took a job at the same zoo as a primate keeper. She admits to having a “favorite” animal species during her years there - gorillas - but she also enjoyed the other apes and monkeys in her care.

Grete is happy that her career mirrors her passions, and she is excited to care for your pets in the San Gabriel Valley!
